ShoeString are a 6 piece ceilidh and covers band comprising of Ian on keyboards, Gillian on fiddle, Craig on drums/percussion, Laurie rhythm guitar and vocals, and Clark and Ron, alternating between lead guitar /bass guitar and vocals.
 
Formed in 2005, some members of the band have been together, in other guises for more than ten years, leading Ceilidhs, performing at parties, weddings, Hogmanay events, and travelling extensively in Europe and as far away as Taiwan, playing for the Ballochleam Highland Dancers.
 
All members of the band have many years experience in the music world, and the band can switch between Folk music, Ceilidh and Pop covers with ease. Pop covers range from Beatles to Greenday, and Elvis to Snow Patrol.

ShoeStrings' great strength is in the musical diversity. When switching from ceilidh to pop music, you will scarcely believe the same band is still on stage. 
 
Shoestring can perform as a ceilidh only band, covers only band , providing tasteful background music, or as live music to support the Ballochleam Highland Dancers. Principal tutor of the Ballochleam Highland Dancers, Gillian Whitelaw, is ShoeStrings Ceilidh Caller. Gillian is ex three times Senior Scottish Highland Dance Champion and one of the most successful teachers of the art of Highland and Scottish Dance having many champions from her own dance school including Senior Scottish and British Champions. A trained choreographer and composer and a highly experienced ceilidh caller you can be in no safer hands than with Gillian calling at your ceilidh.

ShoeString have performed at all the top wedding and ceilidh venues over the past year or so. Edinburgh Castle, Great Hall Stirling Castle, Boturich Castle, Melville Castle, Glenskirlie Castle, Airth Castle and have been the Hogmany Ceilidh band at the prestigious Cameron House Hotel, Loch Lomond for the last two years 2007 and 2008 and also appearing as the Boxing Day Ceilidh Band in 2008. Gillian Whitelaw held Ceilidh Workshops for the guests at the venue on Boxing Day and Hogmany 2008.
