The Gillian Whitelaw School of Highland Dancing is based in Central Scotland and comprises of classes in Brightons, near Polmont, Larbert and Stirling.

The principal teacher is Gillian Whitelaw, 3 times S.O.H.D.A Scottish Champion in 1980,1982, and 1983. Gillians teaching career spans over 20 years, and over this period of time the dance school has produced many champions and dancers who have become teachers in their own right .

Dancers start from as young as 4 years old and the school prepares them for competition, examination, displays and festivals at home and abroad.

Many students from the school progress on to the Ballochleam Highland Dancers, an internationally known professional dance troupe, who have travelled extensively representing Scotland and the U.K. to festivals and competitions in Spain, Italy, France, Taiwan, England, Germany and Ireland.

Gillian now teaches and the dancers compete under the S.O.B.H.D rules, at competitions all year round, the World Championships at Cowal and at the Highland games during the summer months.

New and experienced dancers are always welcome to join the school, boys and girls from age 4 years to adult.

 

Class times and venues are displayed on the  venue and times page, just come along or telephone for any other information prior to the to the class that suits you.

Many dance schools charge or hire outfits to their dancers for Displays and Shows our school supplies all outfits that are required over and above the four competition outfits that dancers purchase.

Extra outfits for these displays, festivals and shows are held by the dance school and supplied free of charge to the dancers.
